The Armstrong swimming pool was first opened in 1956. It has served our commumity for 50 years. In recent years, it has been suffering some problems just due to its age. Recently, the pool was inspected and found to be unsuitable for use and so has been permanently closed.
The Armstrong Pool Committee together with the Armstrong Betterment Club (ABC) is actively seeking donations for the new pool project. The new pool is under construction and is estimated to cost about $800,000. So far, about $300,000 has been raised. Construction is scheduled to be completed in time to open sometime in 2008. Plans are in place for an auction in the spring as well as many other fundraising projects to help the community to pay for this vital part of our community.
If you would like to help by contributing to the fund for the swimming pool, ABC is soliciting donations through this website to assist in the fund raising effort. We wanted to allow you an easy way to contribute whether you still live in Armstrong or if you have moved to Maine or California. If you still love Armstrong, we would appreciate your help.
You may contribute any amount. You will be allowed to designate the amount you give after you click the "make a donation" button below. All donations regardless of amount will be greatly appreciated.
