2010 Schedule of Events for July 4th and July 2nd

Sunday July 4th, 2010
    7:00 a.m.
  • Ecumenical Services @ City Park shelterhouse (bring your own lawnchairs)
  • Registration begins for 5K run at Nazareth Lutheran Church (call 712.864.3320 for details)
  • 8:00 a.m.

  • 5K and 1 mile Fun Run/Walk begins at Nazareth Lutheran Church
  • VFW track and field events @ H.S. Track(ages Pre-school-6th grade)
  • Punt, Pass, and Kick at High School Football field
  • 3 on 3 Basketball - behind Library - registration at 8, play starts at 8:30 - Kurt Fothergill 712-363-3502, 515-889-2943 Paul Clausen
  • 8 a.m. - 11 a.m.
  • Breakfast To Go at the Armstrong Community Center.

  • 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.
  • Flea Market, Garage Sale, Vendor Booths at the Armstrong Community Center.
  • 9:00 a.m.
  • Heritage Museum opens(closed during parade-open 'til 4 p.m.)
  • 10:00 a.m.

  • Beautiful Baby Contest at Community Center(ages newborn through 3)sponsored by Great Lakes Insurance Agency
  • 10:30 a.m.
  • Soapbox Derby Races @ hill by Valley Vue Care Center(ages 8-13)chaired by Chuck Nicoson and Tod Peterson, call 712-868-3084 for additional information
  • Registration for Classic Car, Truck, Motorcycle, & Antique Tractor Show & Antique Bicycle Display (Registration time is 10:30-1:00 & after parade 2-2:30; awards will be given out at 4 p.m.)
  • 11:00 a.m.

  • Big Wheel Races - west side of City Park. Rhonda Eisenbacher,chm

  • 1:00 p.m.- Kiddie parade followed by Main Parade
  •  Vickie Rooney, Chairman, 712-868-4020, 868-3681 • Kiddie Parade starts at east end of high school and ends at H & H Parts and Hardware corner; Parade route begins at football field, turns at H & H Parts and Hardware & ends back at the football field.

  • Armstrong-Ringsted Jr. High and Sr. Jazz Band performing @ Shelter house
  • Register for Firemen's Water Fight NW of City Park - starts at 3:30
  • 3:30 p.m.

Kiddie parade-4 places/6 prizes $25,$20,$15
2 Special float awards-GKN & Art's-Way (pre-judged before parade for these prizes)
Prize Drawings- DVD Player, Bicycle, Patriotic Sampler Quilt, $100 cash(3)
We've Got Talent - $100 first, $25 second, in each age group

• Don't forget to bring lawn chairs for Church, Bike show, parade, talent show, etc.
Friday July 2nd, 2010 (All Events will be held in the Community Center)
    6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Cattlemen's Supper (Serving Rib-eye sandwich, baked beans, salad, dessert - Free will donation)

  • 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
  • Music by Steve Lang
  • 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.

  • Dance with MoJo. (Playing favorite requests)
